The Quiet Line at the Floor

Quarter round shoe moulding in finger-joint wood is the slim, curved trim that closes the gap where a baseboard meets the floor — covering the flooring expansion gap and hiding the slightly uneven line that floors and walls always leave. At 11/16 inch it keeps a low, neat profile that follows the baseboard without adding bulk. It takes primer to a smooth, paint-ready face that needs only a top-coat, and the finger-joint body holds a brad without the crumbling that gives composite trim away at an inside corner. Unlike the MDF shoe most yards carry, this is real wood: it resists the swelling and warping that ruin fiberboard trim right at the floor line where mop water and spills collect, and carries no urea-formaldehyde core to off-gas into the room. Supplied in 10-foot lengths for long floor runs with fewer joints — cope the inside corners, mitre the outside ones, caulk, and paint it like any premium wood trim.

Features
  • Quarter round profile — the classic curved shoe that closes the baseboard-to-floor gap
  • Finger-joint wood body — resists the swelling and warping that ruin MDF shoe at the floor line
  • Factory-primed face — paint-ready surface needs only a finish top-coat to match baseboard
  • Low 11/16" profile — follows the baseboard cleanly without adding bulk
  • No urea-formaldehyde core — finger-joint wood does not off-gas the way composite trim can
  • 10' lengths — long floor runs with fewer joints
  • Copes and mitres clean — works like standard wood trim with finish or brad nails
