Tough, Light, Code-True Drainage
IPEX ABS DWV pipe is the black solid-wall drainage backbone that Canadian trades have run for three decades — Schedule 40 acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, third-party certified to CSA B181.1 for drain, waste, and vent service. It cuts with a handsaw and solvent-welds with one-step ABS cement (no primer), so a rough-in goes together faster and lighter than PVC or cast iron. ABS stays impact-tough and ductile in freezing job-site temperatures where other plastics turn brittle, and the smooth bore keeps waste moving without scaling or snagging. Corrosion-proof, rot-proof, and dimensionally stable, it's the standard for residential drainage, waste, and venting across single-family, multi-plex, and wood-frame builds. Stocked in 1/2", 2", and 3" diameters in 12-foot lengths. For drainage service only — never test an ABS DWV system with compressed air; fill and test hydrostatically per code.
Features
- Schedule 40 solid wall — thick, rigid ABS that resists crushing, impact, and household drain chemicals
- CSA B181.1 certified — third-party listed to the Canadian ABS DWV standard; passes drainage and vent inspections
- One-step solvent weld — bonds with yellow ABS cement, no primer required for 1/2"–6" (check local code)
- Cold-weather tough — ABS stays ductile and crack-resistant at freezing job-site temperatures, unlike PVC
- Smooth interior bore — low-friction wall maximizes flow and resists scaling and clogs
- Lighter than cast iron or PVC — faster to handle, cut, and install in tight spaces
- Drainage service only — do not air-test; fill and test hydrostatically per code
