It reads as a heavier, more traditional casing without the cost of building up trim from separate pieces, and carries the same ogee language as colonial baseboard so the room stays consistent. It takes primer to a smooth, paint-ready face that needs only a top-coat, and the solid-wood body holds a brad without the crumbling that gives composite trim away at a mitred corner.
