One-Piece Back Band, Modern Depth

Step bevel back band casing in finger-joint wood frames a door or window with the crisp, modern step profile — but with the back band milled into the same solid stick, not added as a separate piece. The raised, stepped outer edge is formed in one continuous profile, giving the depth and shadow of a built-up casing without layering two mouldings or chasing a seam at every mitre. It carries the same stepped language as our step bevel baseboard and casing, so a modern room reads as one consistent trim package. It takes primer to a smooth, paint-ready face that needs only a top-coat, and the finger-joint body holds a brad without the crumbling that gives composite trim away at a mitred corner. Unlike the MDF back band casing stocked across most GTA yards, this is real wood: it resists the denting and corner blow-out that chip fiberboard at the joints, and carries no urea-formaldehyde core to off-gas into the room. At 3-1/2 inches wide and 5/8 inch thick in 8-foot lengths, it makes a substantial modern surround for doors and windows. Mitre or cope the corners, caulk, and paint it like any premium wood trim.

Features
  • Integral back band — the raised stepped edge is milled into one solid piece, not a separate band applied over a casing
  • Step bevel profile — a modern stepped face with the depth and shadow of a built-up casing
  • Finger-joint wood body — holds a brad and resists the corner blow-out that chips MDF casing at mitres
  • Factory-primed face — paint-ready surface needs only a finish top-coat to match doors, walls, or baseboard
  • 3-1/2" face x 5/8" thick x 8' — a substantial modern surround for doors and windows
  • No urea-formaldehyde core — finger-joint wood does not off-gas the way composite MDF trim can
  • Matches step bevel baseboard and casing for a consistent modern trim package
