Pipe that isn't fastened rattles, and a line that rattles eventually works a crimp joint loose. A J-clamp ends that in one swing: the nail comes pre-loaded in the stem, so you hook the clamp over the tubing, set it against the stud, and drive it home without ever fumbling for a fastener. The J shape wraps the pipe and holds it firm to the framing, taking the sag out of a long horizontal run and the stress off the fittings at each end. Because the body is high-impact plastic rather than metal strap, it insulates the pipe from the wood — no galvanic corrosion against copper, and the water hammer that telegraphs through a rigid metal clip gets absorbed instead. It fits any CTS-sized line, so the same box handles PEX, copper, and CPVC on the same rough-in. A hundred to the box, which is about one bathroom and a laundry.
