Brass Push-Fit Coupling
A burst line doesn't wait for the system to drain — the brass push-fit coupling is the splice that doesn't ask it to. Cut out the damaged section, square and deburr the ends, mark the depth, and push the coupling home: the stainless steel grab rings bite, the internal O-rings seal, and the line is back in service with no torch, no crimp tool, and no dry pipe required. Because each end grips PEX, copper, or CPVC independently, it also splices one material straight to another — old copper on one side, new PEX on the other, one fitting in the middle. Machined from lead-free brass for potable hot and cold service, it removes with a disconnect clip if the repair ever becomes a renovation. It's the fitting that ends most flooded-basement stories, which is why one belongs in the kitchen drawer as much as in the service van.
